About Gayatri Asokan
Musical Journey: She began her playback career in 2000 with the song "Deena Dayalo Rama" from the film Arayannangalude Veedu under the music direction of Raveendran. Over her career, she has recorded hundreds of film songs, devotional tracks, and independent albums.
Trained initially in Carnatic music, she later underwent extensive training in Hindustani classical music. In later years, she shifted her focus toward ghazals and Hindustani musical expressions, performing at major cultural festivals like Delhi's Jashn-e-Rekhta.
She has worked with legendary composers such as Ilaiyaraaja and Vidyasagar, and she is frequently seen on television as a judge and mentor on popular music reality shows.
