How the free tools work, what they accept, and what to check when something goes wrong. If the answer is not here, send a message through the form at the end of the page.
What runs where
The audio converter, MP3 cutter, ringtone maker, tuner, BPM finder and metronome run entirely in your browser. Nothing is uploaded and nothing is recorded. Mastering and stem separation run on our servers because they need more computing than a browser has; the files are processed for that job and are not used for anything else.
Formats and sizes
Mastering and stem separation accept MP3, WAV, FLAC and AIFF. The browser converter reads MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, FLAC, OGG and the audio track of MP4 files, and writes MP3, WAV or AIFF with your choice of sample rate, bit depth or bitrate, and mono or stereo. Very large files depend on your device's memory, so on a phone keep files under a few hundred megabytes.
When a tool fails
A file that will not read is usually not what its extension says, is protected, or was moved while the page was working on it. Try the file again, or convert it to WAV first. If mastering or stem separation stops with an error, retry once; if it fails again, send us the file format, its length and the browser you used.
Accounts
No account is needed for the browser tools or to preview mastering and stem separation. An account keeps full mastering and separation results in your dashboard so you can come back for them.
Rights
You keep every right to the recordings you process. Use the tools only on music you own, have permission to use, or that is licensed for your purpose. Separating a song into stems does not change who owns it.

Questions people ask
Which audio formats do the BeatRootRaga tools accept?
Mastering and stem separation take MP3, WAV, FLAC and AIFF. The browser converter also reads M4A, AAC, OGG and MP4 video, and writes MP3, WAV or AIFF.
How long does mastering or stem separation take?
A preview takes well under a minute. A full track takes a few minutes depending on its length and how busy the servers are; the full separation runs in the background and appears in your dashboard.
Is my audio uploaded when I use the converter or the cutter?
No. Those tools, and the tuner, BPM finder and metronome, run in your browser. Only mastering and stem separation send the file to our servers.
Can I hear the result before I download it?
Yes. Mastering and stem separation play a preview first, and the converter and cutter play the output in the page before you save it.
Can I use the mastered track or the stems commercially?
Yes, if you own the recording or have the rights to it. The tools do not change who owns the music.
Why did the file fail to read?
Usually the file is not the format its extension claims, is protected, or was moved while the page was using it. Try again, or convert it to WAV first.
Do the tools cost anything, and are there refunds?
The tools are free, so there is nothing to refund. If something does not work, send a message and we will look at it.
